“They pick up subjects that are from the soul of the country’s ancient history and present them in today’s relevance. We can do so much to bring about change in society,” she added.
Actress, tarot card reader, healer, and occultist Hansa Singh, who has been part of projects like Human, Criminal Justice 3, and the film Goodbye, feels the entertainment industry should tell more stories that are rooted in culture. Speaking on the occasion of the 77th year of independence, she said, “India is a culturally rich country. We have what the West doesn't have. We need to go within to tell our stories, like the south industry is doing currently.”
“They pick up subjects that are from the soul of the country’s ancient history and present them in today’s relevance. We can do so much to bring about change in society,” she added.
Asked about her thoughts on India striving to become a Viksit Bharat and the role of the entertainment industry in shaping it, she said, “I think both society and industry are learning from each other. Films show what happens around us in society. Lately, too many films about red tape have come out. And some unknown heroes of society too. We try to believe that we are portraying what society is. Well, as far as Viksit Bharat is concerned, it can only be with the right attitude and education.”
What makes you feel truly independent living in India? “Saare jahan se achcha Hindustan Hamara. My country is the best, even if there are certain issues. My freedom is intact. Khul ke saans le ne ka anand hi kuch aur hai. Jai Hind,” Hansa ended.
